Genealogy 101: Getting Started on Your Family History Research

East Lansing Public Library

Description

Stop procrastinating and start researching! This hands-on workshop will share genealogical best practices and step-by-step strategies for people who are new to genealogy. Attendees will come away from this workshop ready to extract (and share!) information at upcoming holiday family gatherings. Laptops/tablets (and scraps of paper from great-aunts) are welcome.

Presenter Ginger Ogilvie, of Keep Family History Services, is a professional genealogist who has been researching her own family tree since she was in her teens. She remembers using a typewriter to fill in pedigree charts and celebrates the advances in genealogical technology we have today!
