On Thursday, April 1st at 6pm we'll talk about the film, Night Moves
On Thursday, May 6th at 6pm, we'll talk about the film, Leona.
MSU's Dr. Yore Kedem will lead the discussion about Leona. A native of Israel, Yore Kedem earned a BA at Tel Aviv University, with a double major in Music Performance and Education. From there he went to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and completed his Ed.M and Ph.D at the College of Education. In his graduate studies and research, he specialized in Aesthetics Education, and concentrated on the education of musicians.
After 15 years as a graduate student and Hebrew Lecturer at Illinois, Dr. Kedem arrived at MSU as Assistant Professor of Hebrew in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures. At MSU he teaches all levels of Hebrew language classes, a class on immigration as a global issue from local perspectives, and leads study abroad programs to Israel. His study abroad courses deal with immigration and cultural diversity in Israel, and require students to conduct research projects by observing and talking to Israelis of diverse cultures and origins. He regularly mentors undergraduate students in different kinds of qualitative inquiry.
Outside of work, Yore performs occasionally on the violin and viola, engages in landscape and macro photography, and enjoys cooking for friends.
