Events › Meet the MSU Herbarium!

An herbarium is like a library of plants!  The MSU Herbarium on campus houses over 500,000 curated and well-preserved specimens in its collection, along with other resources and associated data.  This large collection of plants supports a myriad of research, education, outreach, and conservation efforts.

Come to the East Lansing Public Library to meet some of the amazing staff of the MSU Herbarium, who will teach us about the mission of herbaria, their history, and the process by which the collection is curated.  Learn about how plants are added to the collection, and practice mounting a specimen of your own to take home (while supplies last)!

This event is intended for adult audiences.  
This event is free and open to the public.

This program is part of the Botany, Birds, and Bugs! A Bioblitz Summer Series through MSU Libraries, East Lansing Public Library, Beal Botanical Garden, and the MSU Herbarium.
