Kids Gardening Workshop with the MSU Sunshine Garden Club

5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
East Lansing Public Library

Description

Come join members of the MSU Sunshine Garden Club at the East Lansing Public Library for engaging and interactive workshops all about gardening.  Learn about the fascinating biology of plants, the practice of gardening, and the value of community garden spaces.

Recommended for ages 6-13, this four-week series of programs will explore different aspects of gardening in way that is accessible for young gardeners of all experience levels.

Since space is limited, registration is encouraged to ensure a spot at time of event (registration is free and open to the public).  Parents and caregivers do not need to reserve a program spot for themselves but are encouraged to attend the program with their young gardener(s).

The MSU Sunshine Garden runs the Daniella and Charlie Sunshine Garden and creates opportunities for MSU students to serve Lansing neighborhoods. Working in Lansing communities helps break the campus bubble and creates bridges between MSU and the community. The Sunshine Garden Club serves to address food insecurity and approaches gardening as a social and communal experience to decrease loneliness and strengthen community ties. To accomplish these goals, the club works with other organizations on campus that are working on the re-distribution of food to decrease food waste, increase food security, and improve Lansing’s food systems.
