A welcoming space for youth (ages 6-13) to learn chess, meet other local players, and practice the game. Mentors from the East Lansing High School Chess Team will be present to help teach attendees and arrange games.
This group is intended for both beginning players who are looking to learn the basic rules of play as well as experienced players who are looking to meet other players and hone their skills. The club will meet every other Wednesday evening (4:45-5:45 pm) in February, March, and April, as well as two additional Wednesdays in May.
Since space is limited, please register your young chess player(s) to ensure a spot; registration will save you a seat for the entire series. Adult guardians do not need to register a seat for themselves, but are welcomed to accompany their chess players at the meetings. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk-ins may be welcomed at any given session if there's space available.
