This was an interesting novel, especially given the POV is from that of a five year old boy. I really enjoyed the first half of the book better than the second half simply because I felt the pacing faltered some in the second half. The…

Recommended by Laura S. Read in 2013! Has made a lasting impression on me. [Similar but better: "A World Elsewhere" by Wayne Johnston]

To his mother, it’s a regular, everyday shed turned prison that has been altered to prevent anyone from the outside world stumbling upon it. Yet to Jack, Room is his home, one that’s sheltered him for the last four years. According to him,…

Although this is a well written book, I couldn't finish it too morbid.

From a terrible situation - a woman who was abducted at the age of 19, repeatedly raped, who gave birth to a son now 5 years old and still held with him in a cramped space - Donoghue has made a masterpiece.

I’ll be honest, it took me some time to get into the flow of the book and reading it from Jack’s perspective. Once I got past part 1, I was hooked and could not put the book down.

“Room” by Emma Donoghue is written from the perspective of a five years old boy named Jack. For all of his life, he has lived in an 11 by 11 foot shed with his mother, Ma, which to his own knowledge is the whole entire world. Ma was…

Racist, sexist, and pedophilic. Also, no 5-year-old talks like that. Absolutely do not read.

Oh my gosh! Isn’t it awful what this poor mother and child went through? For the child to only know the barest of essentials and to not be able to play outside and intermingle with kids his age like kids should naturally do! The…

Oh My God. This book was so scary (at times I thought I was going to heave!) and so amazing. In this novel, a mother and her son are held hostage in an 11 by 11 space. We find out how they cope with their limitations and how they are…

I actually heard the audio version of this book and it was wonderful. I have not yet seen the movie which has been out for a while, but it's on my to do list.

This story is told almost entirely from the imaginative perspective of Jack, a very intelligent five-year-old boy whose entire life is confined to a small Room. His only companion is Ma, his loving mother, who has lived in Room for seven…

Room was an excellent book. The narrator did an awesome job. The story was very touching. After listening to the audio, I watched the movie. Both were good.

This is one of the most irritating books I've read in a long time, and I really wish I'd picked something else from this author. I'm not exactly sure why this particular book has so much hype around it. The narrator is semi-realistic----…

An intriguing plot! The author has written the narration well, especially the part where she explains the after and the living beyond. It's such a dark yet touching story. I wish every mom can give such an attention and love to their kids…

I think I would rate the beginning of the book higher, but the end kind of dragged it down for me. I think that after they get out of the room, Jack copes with life way too fast. I have to believe that if a child were actually trapped in a…

This book has received so much acclaim and praise that to add my superlatives would seem redundant. I'll just say that I find it hard to believe I will read anything as good for quite awhile. I don't want to say much about the plot because…
