A gritty film with a lot of meat to it. Olivia Colman is amazing in this film. The theme music is outstanding, very moving. One of my favourite films. I always think about it, and it’s been years since I have seen it.

There is domestic abuse, and extreme violence throughout. The strong accents were difficult; this film had no closed captioning. But the message of anger came through, loud and clear. Olivia Colman and Peter Mullan were terrific…

This guy kicks his dog to death in the first scene. Sick!! Enough said.

This movie is designed for someone who embraces the mentally imbalanced and loves a super slow moving plot. Incidentally, there are no dinosaurs in the movie, only screwed up people.

WoW! What an intense movie! I am just going to ditto what commenter nursebob said below and add that just before watching this movie I watched 'Only God Forgives' with Ryan Gosling. That movie, with its big star and big budget, tried to…

Surprisingly well-acted with amazing, simple scenes.

Joseph is an angry man given to fits of brutal violence and self-loathing. Hannah is a seemingly kindhearted shopkeeper and devout Christian who’s own violent anger has been turned inwards causing her to reach for the bottle more than she…

This is a 2011 British drama written and directed by Paddy Considine. At the beginning, Joseph looks like a good-for-nothing guy with explosive anger. I'm pretty sure everybody would hate him to the bone. Hannah appears just like a…

Animal lovers and respectors of animals may (more likely will) find the 2 episodes of dog-murder unpalatable. There is a touching scene when Joseph comes in for shelter into Hannah's shop. I think there may be a cultural mismatch here…

I wish I'd never seen this movie. I was so disturbed by the beginning, no not the swearing, but the man kicking his dog to death that I turned it off. And this is the first movie I've ever taken my time to write a complaint about a movie…

I wasn't digging this movie at first. It felt a little cliche and the connection between the characters felt forced but as the film went on and the mood and characters developed I really started to enjoy it more and more and there is some…

A real indie gem. Not for the faint of heart. Provides graphic violence and gut-wrenching emotion in equal doses. Very well acted and written. The film is shot well, too, in dull greys and haunting shots. Just an extremely well done…

One of the most powerful films I've seen in a long time. Riveting performances by Peter Mullan and Olivia Colman are the highlights of this brutal yet hauntingly beautiful movie.

A film about two lost souls who help each other when in time of need. I would have given it 4.5 stars, but this version had no subtitles. At times I could not make out what the actors were saying, as they had heavy Scottish (???) accents.

An encounter between a violent angry lonely unemployed widower and a religious domestically abused woman ... with way too much animal brutality for me to stomach. The monolog from the last scene was so hard to make out that I gave up after…

I do very much enjoy British films and this is no exception. Gritty, painful to watch, but compelling, intelligent, honest and moving. I do wish that MPL would purchase more films from Great Britain.

A hard, brutal film which is very difficult to watch. I don't like to watch movies which actually make brutality a character and seem to savor it for its own sake. That's not the case with Tyrannosaur. The main characters are doomed and…

I don't know why British films either belong to one of these 2 categories - films depicting social issues with gritty urban struggling class or an adaptation of its illustrious literary tradition. Tyrannosaur happens to belong to the…
