This movie was disappointing. I had expected a much more in depth telling of this woman's sadly very short life. But the movie, like many Hollywood tellings of real events, just hit on the things they thought an audience would enjoy. If you really want to know about her life read a biography. Also, it struck me that a woman so much pain and with so many ailments had so many affairs. But those affairs may have been more intellectual and romantic than the movie depicts.

Salma Hayek is incredible as Frida. No one could have done it better. I understand the art of Frida Kahlo better after having seen the film. Interesting story. Visually well done film. Excellent performances by all artists involved. Some of the extras in regard to the making of the film are worth watching as well. Not a movie for teens or young children. Adult themes throughout including a fair amount of nudity and sexual content.

I respected the visual conception of her art, before and after the depression and her life as a whole. Unfortunately, the promiscuous behavior grit my teeth and it was clearly depicted in her life and was one of her Achilles heels if I'm the only one who saw it. Overall, 4/5 Stars.

Depiction of the lives of two communists: Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón and Diego Rivera. Frieda called the US "gringolandia," had affairs with other women (even her husband's mistresses), and once said: "I was a member of the [communist] Party before I met Diego and I think I am a better communist than he is or ever will be." Nuff said!

Love this movie, cuz I love Frida Kahlo. Don't care about her politics, just about her art and her life. She was a true goddess.

Superb visuals, a fascinating subject, and a compelling performance by Alfred Molina are among this film's attractions. The book on which it is based is even better.

"Sex is like pissing. People take it much too seriously." Frieda Khalo (And that's the woman Hollywood considers worth of a movie!)
