Bernie is extremely unlucky at gambling and he owes the Shangri-La casino's mob bos Shelly Kaplow over $100,000. He is so unlucky that he is hired as a "cooler". He gambles next to high rollers and gives them some of his bad luck to stop them from winning. This arrangement works out for awhile, but when Bernie has almost paid off his debt, he meets cocktail waitress, Natalie. The two start to fall in love and Bernie's luck begins to change. Unfortunately, Shelly isn't going to let Bernie go so easily.

We couldn't stand this film and had to stop after a few minutes.

Every loser has his/her day good love story

Bill Macy plays a “cooler” which is a guy with such phenomenal luck he is hired by Alec Baldwin, manager of a Las Vegas casino to go to gambling tables to cool off players on a hot streak. So just believe the gamblers' myth that a cooler could do this and you can enjoy this film. It is good to see Macy in a lead role as he normally is just a supporting actor. Alec Baldwin demonstrates those comedic and campy talents that he would soon use to make “30 Rock” a Golden Globe and Emmy winning TV series.

I would have given this movie 4 stars but the constant saxophone solos between scenes really got on my nerves. I wish Paul Sorvino had been featured a bit more too. Sweet "losers in love" kind of story.

About an unlucky guy who works in a run-down casino in Vegas as a 'cooler,' someone who makes lucky gamblers start losing again. How his luck changes when he falls in love.
