“...if a child waited to speak until all the grown-ups settled down and gave her some room to say her piece, the most important things would never get said.” As a child I always told people this was my favorite book. This is the story of Ida B., a young girl who is happy to be home-schooled and spends most of her time with her best friends, who happen to be the trees and the brook in her backyard. But when bad things begin to happen that turn her world upside-down, she concocts a plan to get everything back to perfect, just the way she remembers it. Hannigan has a charming writing style that kept me captivated and feeling like I was walking along with Ida B. through every step of her journey. --Alexa (See more of my picks by following WoodneathAlexa)

This is a heart warming story suitable for young readers who are preteens but may not be suitable for younger audience because of its tragic ending

One of my all-time favourite books! I love how the author is able to get us right into Ida B's head as we're reading.

I have found no other character in a children’s book that so reminds me of the beloved Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables. I truly love Ida B. I feel she is in all of us.

I thought that this book would be for older kids, however it was written poorly, especially for kids 10 and under. It wasn't a great plotline and the chapters weren't ordered that great. Overrall, not a great book.
