An excellent Chinese film. Good special effects with gorgeous cinematography, strong plot and big cast - Jet Li, Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung. English and Spanish subtitle.

This is an incredible movie. Most of all it is BEAUTIFUL. The cinematography is gorgeous, especially the bold use of colour. The plot is strong, and interesting. The acting is good. The fight sequences are really solid. The scene in autumn leaves is my favourite. Totally recommend it.

Every human being on planet Earth should be required to see "Hero." This is the greatest movie ever made. Yes... I said it. Shakespearean in scope (for themes of love)... better than "Godfather," (for themes of family)... better than "Apocalypse Now," (for themes of war)... better than "The Matrix" (for action sequences)... Clever, inventive narrative ("Rashomon" style story telling), beautiful martial arts/dance choreography (think "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and "House of Flying Daggers") with themes of love, country and the true essence of what it means to wield -and master- the sword. Brilliant! Tragic! Moving! See it now... NOW! I said: "NOW!"

Despite much preferring realistic-looking fight scenes as opposed to Hero's fantastical fight choreography, I did enjoy the engrossing story and amazing visual representation.

This movie is different from other Chinese action films in that the plot keeps you guessing and the truth is not what it seems at first. Intelligent storyline and strong characters.

A series of Rashomon-like flashback accounts shape the story of how one man defeated three assassins who sought to murder the most powerful warlord in pre-unified China.
