Baker & Taylor
When their psychiatrist is murdered, leaving them as prime suspects in the crime, five deranged CIA killers, all dependent on their medications, are forced to break out of an asylum deep in the Maine forests in a desperate quest to clear their names and hunt down the real murderer. 75,000 first printing.

McMillan Palgrave
James Grady revolutionized the political thriller with his first novel, Six Days of the Condor. Now Grady breaks fresh thriller territory with Mad Dogs, a brilliant novel launched from a totally original creation: the CIA's secret insane asylum for "retired" agents.
Five deranged CIA killers, all of them dependent on their meds and deep in the woods of Maine, are forced to break out of the asylum when someone murders their psychiatrist ---and frames them for the deed.
Crazy and traumatized by their experiences in the CIA, they operate under somewhat skewed perceptions of the real world. Their training, however, has prepared them to survive in an unfriendly world---even if that world is the Boston-to-Washington corridor as they chase down the real killer.
Suspenseful, fast, and edgy, as well as funny and humane, Mad Dogs is a stunning novel of political commentary and a tour-de-force of contemporary literary style, a look at twenty-first-century spy wars.

Our stars are four men and one woman. Once America's best warriors, the pick of the litter, now they're "mad dogs" - set up, on the run, off their meds, hunting a traitor burrowed into the CIA.
Mad Dogs is a blast of action with spy wars fought from Iraq to New York, Bosnia to Vietnam to twenty-first-century wartime Washington. With tradecraft like the James Dean gambit, knife-quick alley ballets, bombs, and black-bag jobs, our five heroes reveal worlds within the world we call reality.

Not a big fan of the status quo, believe the CIA should have been disbanded long ago and undergone a transparent forensic audit ASAP, but the author who gave us Three Days of the Condor (from his book titled Six Days of the Condor), has delivered an outstanding and extremely well written novel that even an old radical like myself can appreciate.
