Book News
Michigan attorney and author Lehto has sifted through news reports, transcripts, and other documents to discover what he thinks really happened. He concludes that on Christmas Eve 1913, a party was thrown on the second floor of the Italian Hall in Calumet, Michigan for the children of copper miners who had been on strike since July. Someone certainly supporting and perhaps hired by the mine owners, yelled "Fire" at the top of the stairs and fled. In the ensuing rush, 73 children were killed.
