July 28 2016....I was expecting a documentary, and I guess this was, but not the usual. A little pornish in places, so not for the kiddies! (Not to mention the graphic shots of cows being chopped up.)........I couldn't get over the guy chowing down on that burger after being told about the "shit in the meat"! Glad I live in a place where the fast food is few and far between. We have such good restaurants here, who needs the chains!

As you all know (don't you?) Richard Linklater is one of the world's foremost hack film-makers. This is another round of lowest common denominator sentiments with hardly a trace of value to be seen. Do yourself a favour and take out Robert Young's "Alambrista" and throw this one in the dumpster.

An interesting, insightful film about how the industrialization of food production has had negative ethical, social, environmental and health consequences. The message is delivered in the form of a drama with sympathetic characters. Well done and brave.

I started watching this movie under the mistaken impression that it was a documentary (like "Taxi to the Dark Side" or "Gunner Palace").

It's actually a drama with some strong story lines. It is thought-provoking, and in some scenes, a difficult movie to watch.

In the end, I came away with the horrible understanding that this IS a documentary, told in dramatic form.

Every thinking American should watch this film, and really think about it. Why are so many meat packing plants (slaughterhouses, as they are called in other English speaking lands), staffed by Latinos?

Two thumbs up for a brave film.
