Baker & Taylor
Having left the LAPD's Open Unsolved Unit for the prestigious Homicide Special squad, Harry Bosch investigates the murder of a doctor whose death is linked to the theft of a dangerous radioactive substance that Harry fears may be part of a terrorist plot.

Hachette Book Group
Near Mulholland Drive, Dr. Stanley Kent is found shot twice in the back of the head. It's the case LAPD detective Harry Bosch has been waiting for, his first since being recruited to the Homicide Special Squad. When he discovers that Kent had access to dangerous radioactive substances, what begins as a routine investigation becomes something darker, more deadly, and frighteningly urgent. Bosch is soon in conflict with not only his superiors but the FBI, which thinks the case is too important for just a cop. Complicating his job even more is the presence of Agent Rachel Walling, his onetime lover. Now guarding one slim advantage, Bosch relentlessly follows his own instincts, hoping they are still sharp enough to find the truth--and a killer who can annihilate an entire city.

Like those 'intense' Bosch moments??? This one's got 'em!! :)

Making my way through the series and this one has been the best. Marginally, it helps to have read the prior books to further appreciate a couple characters and relationships. Nonetheless, this is the first one that I have read in a single day. Two really good twists in this story. Now I wonder if the next novel, 9 Dragons, can compete.

Another very good Bosch novel. Should have read Echo Park first. Highly recommended.

Staying frosty. How books change lives. Dedicated to the librarian who gave me To Kill a Mockingbird.

Outstanding book, doesn't get any better! Bosch at his finest, and Mr. C at his!
[Sidebar: And not to go to reality-based today, but nothing about the FBI should ever surprise anyone, especially since they blatantly lied {how many, many, many times} in 1992 and claimed those hoboes some dishonest Texas newsy floozies claimed were the three tramps in Nov. 22, 1963 photographed, so obviously false for many verifiable reasons, but here's one they and any real police force would have known:
[Sometimes you must paste this and hit return on several tries, as it tends to defaul to the htm file.]

Excellent as usual. Just be aware this is a reprint of a book published in 2007. I didn't realize til I got it home that I'd already read it a few years ago.

Another excellent read from the Harry Bosch series. If you like Patterson's Alex Cross series, give Michael Connelly a try.
