An aging United States Coast Guard rescue swimmer's team is killed in a horrific rescue mission. Just prior to this same mission his wife announces that she cannot take anymore. This leaves him an emotional wreck. His commander gives him a choice - quit or take a position as an instructor at the USCG training facility in Louisiana. Reluctantly he takes the position and moves into the school. Once there he immediately increases the 18 week curriculum that routinely fails half of the people that attend. He meets a young man with unlimited potential, but with some secret that seems to hold him back as a team player. Delving into young man's past, links are found that make him a psychic twin to the older man.

This is a 2006 action-adventure drama directed by Andrew Davis.
There is a mythic tale, in which people lost at sea often claim they feel a presence lifting them to the surface, breathing life into their bodies while they are waiting for help to arrive.
They call this presence "The Guardian".
It is an action-packed gripping and thrilling movie that lets you understand the legendary tale at its end.
It is a fascinating entartainment piece with superb visual effects with a human drama.

I also saw this movie in the theater and it was awesome. Kevin Costner is one of my favorite actors and he did very well in this movie so did Aston not as good as Kevin but still good. It does not feel long and has a good story.

Good movie.

No usual story line.

Wholesome family movie.

For a change a library DVD played all the way without stopping halfway through due to defects as a result of excessive usage.
