Based on the book "The Nanny Diaries" by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus.

The bonus interview with the authors is even more interesting than the film.
I wish that I had watched it first !

I'd thought that the script was all made-up and steriotyped fiction,.. but it's actually been synthesized from years of experience and intelligent, but sympathetic, observation !!

I had to skip a few chapters of the movie near the end due to the disk skipping.

Comedy-drama about a disheartened young college grad who takes up work as a nanny for a rich New York family and learns about the oddness and pettiness within that wealthy sub-culture and the neglect of its privileged children. All while trying to hide her job from her proud working mother and her attraction to a handsome, friendly neighbour from her demanding employer. Good fun with a serious note, presented by the main character as an anthropological study. Kind of reminiscent of Bridget Jones's Diary, but focused more on finding one's path than on romance.

A good movie that shows the life of children/parents in the rich parts of New York. I recommend it to anyone who works with children.
