Really enjoyable read, about a teenager boy who becomes a father, and looks at his relationships with his parents (who are no longer together, and who were also teenage parents), the mother of his child, her parents, and his idol, Tony Hawk. Not just for boys.

I started this book with high hopes and quickly ran out of steam. I keep reading Nick Hornby's books because I liked "High Fidelity" so much and after reading this one, I think I'm done. The premise was good but I quickly became disinterested in the outcome which may have been because I never developed an attachement to the characters and the constant forward and back in time style of writing left me feeling irritated. Overall, not a book I enjoyed.

Nick Hornby's skill at depicting the inner life of inarticulate boy-men is particularly poignant in this story of a teenage skateboard enthusiast who gets his girlfriend pregnant.
