great historical background and decent mystery but it should have been more concise. I guess to get in history the characters wandered around too much with little tie in to the mystery

If you like historical mysteries, give this series set during the French Revolution a try. Not only are the mysteries well thought-out but the author obviously spent a lot of time researching the time period and you can learn some interesting things about life during that time.

Fantastic book. Great suspence, great language and understanding of the period. Hard to put down.
