I agree with "Benicio Del Toro plays a very convincing (herion) drug addict"",.. but beyond that its a flawed drama and it was hard for me to get over the "Great Actors doing Great Acting " burden of this film.

Great acting and powerful story of forgiveness and redemption and strength of the human spirit. Well paced and well told. I love this director's vision and camera work.

Im sorry I would have to strongly disagree with you. Halle Berry is not always my first choice in actresses but I would have to say she did a great job. Benicio Del Toro did an epic performance in his role. I recommend it I think it s a great and touching movie!!

Awful movie! Halle Berry is just terrible in this movie and made me turn it off after 45 minutes. Benicio was great but this movie was ruined by Halle Berry's performance. Stay away.

I think some of the other reviewers here are too accustomed to typical hollywood films that always make romance sickly sweet, resolve everything with a happy ending, and hit you over the head mercilessly to get each point across. This film is subtle and heart-felt. Berry puts in an extraordinary, emotionally charged performance in a difficult role (she won several awards for this performance). At least we all agree Del Toro hits it out of the park. The only weak spot for me was Duchovny - somehow he doesn't fit with the rest of the cast and feeling of the film. Don't bother with this film if you're looking for dumbed down romance, hyped-up suspense, or overblown action. This is a story of recovery, of finding hope when the world is crashing down around you. Very original idea, portrayed beautifully.

This film would be fairly lifeless and superficial without Benicio Del Toro's powerful performance. The movie's title does't have much to do with what's going on in the movie. Kids are alright, but their neurotic self-centered mother (Halle Berry) needs a babysitter or councelling for herself. No romantic chemistry between the two characters (Halle, Benicio). The film could be better and more interesting, had it focused on Benicio's character.

not the finest role or acting for halle barry but benicio del toro shone brightly he was brilliant, a very emotional film honest in its portrayal of the totally illogical actions of those in deep grief - i am thankful david duchovny played a minor role they could have cast a more believable good guy

The aftermath of a death of a young husband is very chaotic and unimaginable. The director has captured this superbly. The movie shows us how death can affect everyone in the family and close friends too; from the friend from long ago, to the neighbor. Benicio Del Torro's character is the sounding board for the family's questions and anger, though he is not the substitution for the father. The trauma of losing a young husband is not something that can easily be understood as that trauma takes so many different forms for so many different people. The director has done a good job of giving us a look at the fall out.

Benicio Del Toro plays a very convincing drug addict, althought the plot is a bit far fetched. As well, not so sure that the ending resolved much.

This character drama's style is way too ponderous for the relatively shallow insights it delivers. Benicio Del Toro's gorgeous performance & Halle Berry's gorgeous body shots save it--but just barely.
