Andy has been and actor for five years, but thanks to his useless agent, he's never done any real acting. Instead, he is a lowly film extra, making his mark in the background while the stars do their work. His partner in arms is the pitiable Maggie, a fellow extra and a hopeless romantic.

Series is a bit sluggish and one note in its first season. The high water mark is the Patrick Stewart episode which is both brilliant in its own right and sets the stage for the more dynamic second season. Ben Stiller's Dodgeball speach is another highlight.

Although I'm not a fan of the "awkward moment" laughs, some good laughs are conjured up at Ricky's expense; that and Stephen Merchant is one of the most underrated comics out there. Much less British-specific humour than (Original British) series The Office, this is Ricky Gervais' best non-Golden Globe work. 3.5 stars for the entire series incl. Series Special.

The first season of Extras is a delightful comedy that follows the personal lives and acting careers of Andy and his friend Maggie. Both are struggling actors unable to find work other than as extras. In job after job Andy and Maggie are humiliated at every turn. Each espisode has star actors such as Kate Winslet, Ben Stiller, Samuel L. Jackson and Patrick Stewart. Extras is dry and witty British comedy.

After 5 minutes, I decided this wasn't interesting enough for me.

Big name guests. Wicked British humour. Some of the topics were a little awkward to watch, but that's the idea behind most British humour. Ricky Gervais's laugh goes from 0 to 120 in a nano second and is almost frightening in its' outburst , but the out takes are worth putting up with it.

Hilarious!!! If you are a fan of the UK office, or flight of the conchords style of humor, this is the show for you.

Like Ricky Gervais and British comedy in general, yet I didn't really enjoy this so much...

Really, this is a drama disguised as a comedy. Funny bits, for sure, but the career arc of all the characters is far more tragic than funny. That being said, if you like Ricky Gervais you'll like this series.
