True story: In a way it seemed slow, but that could be because of this rich & famous guy losing the ability to walk or talk. Warming though, how loved he remained and the patience of the caregivers. I liked it because I have no idea what the end of my days here on earth will be like and this opened my eyes to the realm of possibilities.

This is an interesting movie based on the true story of Jean-Dominique-Bauby who suffered a terrible stroke that left him with 'Locked-in-syndrome', he could neither speak nor move any part of his body except his left eye. A very usual movie !

Un film très émouvant. De très belles images de rêverie et imaginaire et une bande son bien adaptée.

Well executed portrayal of a man tormented by locked-in syndrome.

The first part of the movie outstanding: dialogue, effects, superb camera shots, acting.
Second part lost some.
This is the trend on most of the movies now.

Very good movie, based on a true story. Well done from the patients point of view. I would recommend this movie.

Je ne connaissais rien de l'histoire, du contexte ; j'y ai découvert un chef d'oeuvre.
Les paysages et la musique sont magnifiques. À visionner.

Based on the true story of Jean-Dominique Bauby, editor of the French version of “Elle” magazine who suffered a terrible stroke at the age of forty-two. The stroke left him with “Locked-In Syndrome” in which he lost the ability to speak or move any part of his body except for his right eyelid. Despite this incredible handicap he was able to dictate his memoirs.....one letter at a time.....using a system devised by his physiotherapist. Based on those memoirs this story is told from a first person perspective.....often-using point-of-view camera angles. Funny at times, thoughtful at others yet never wallowing too long in self-pity or anger. Well done.

Sexual Content: Some nudity shown in a very "matter of fact" way such as the main character being bathed in the long-term care facility.
