"All of your pieces fill up other people's holes. But they don't fill your own."
“There is the staying.
Staying because of Kara and Locke and all that they will never
be except trapped.
Staying because for them, time is running out and I am their
their last chance.
Staying for the old Jenna and all she owes Kara and Locke and maybe all the new Jenna owes them, too.
Staying because of ten percent and all I hope I might be.
Staying because of Mr. Bender’s erased life and regrets.
Staying for connection.
Staying because two me
is enough to make one of me
worth nothing at all.
And staying because maybe Lily does love the new Jenna
as much as the old one, after all.
Because maybe, given time, people do change,
maybe laws change.
Maybe we all change.”
"The accident was over a year ago. I've been awake for two weeks. Over a year has vanished. I've gone from sixteen to seventeen. A second woman has been elected president. A twelfth planet has been named in the solar system. The last wild polar bear has died. Headline news that couldn't stir me. I slept through it all."
"There is something curious about where we live. Something curious about Lily. Something curious about Father and his nightly phone calls with Mother. And certainly something curious about me. Why can I remember the details of the French Revolution but I can't remember if I ever had a best friend?"
SummaryAdd a Summary
This book was an AMAZING read!!! It is about a girl, Jenna, surviving and dealing with her emotions after being in a year long coma after a terrible car accident. The book also talks about humanity and love-- how far can a parent try to save their child? Although this book is a bit intense and nightmarish, I actually LOVED it. I will defiantly read more books like this one in the future.
Who is Jenna Fox? Seventeen-year-old Jenna has been told that is her name. She has just awoken from a coma, they tell her, and she is still recovering from a terrible accident in which she was involved a year ago. But what happened before that? Jenna doesn't remember her life. Or does she? And are the memories really hers?
Jenna Fox was an ordinary girl with an ordinary life. But then she had an accident. She awakens a year later only to wonder who, or rather what, she is. Her so called nanny will hardly speak to her, and when her parents do, they seem a little too careful with their choice of words. As time passes, Jenna calls to question not who she is, but rather what. In a world brimming with new technology and a page turning plot, dark secrets are revealed.
