This book was BEAUTIFUL. I loved the puddlejumpers and how the beginning and middle of the story go. The imagery was great and I'd recommend this book to ages 8-11. The only hindrance was that the ending seemed sort of rushed to me.

All my favorite elements: kids having adventures on their own, surprising plot twists, little people. I do wish Ernie and Joey would have asked for help a little sooner, but it's not surprising that they didn't, given Ernie's very good reasons to distrust grownups.

Not very complimentary toward oil magnates and that's an understatement!
