The plot of the story is really great, and the characters really funny and interesting. I'd personally like to have an Elvis impersonator as a father. Another great novel from Pearsall, it does not disappoint! After reading it try not to listen to Elvis for the rest of the day; it's hard not to!

Have you ever been embarrassed by one of your parents? Of course you have. Thirteen- year-old Josh has been too, but his embarrassment is about reach a level he never thought possible. Forced to go live with his father in Chicago while his mother rushes off to take care of her injured mother in Florida, Josh is feeling pretty down about life. He doesn’t know his father very well and he doesn’t want to go to a new school in a new city. But when Josh finds out that his dad has lost his sales job and is now working as an Elvis impersonator he doesn’t think things can get any worse. Ah, but life can always get worse. Not only is his dad trying to become Elvis, he is also dating a new woman (who just happens to have an oddly-dressed hippie daughter the same age as Josh) AND he has been invited to perform, as Elvis, at Josh’s new school! Josh knows that he has to do something to stop his father from embarrassing himself, and Josh, and further. Coming up with a plan is easier than Josh thinks it will be but making things right again after his plan takes a wrong turn will be the real challenge. Can Josh make things right again? Read this funny novel to find out!
