Really, really enjoyed this book changed my view of what the limits of technologies are!

I found Skinned when browsing TVTropes (come on, tell me that's never happened to you), and honestly didn't expect too much from it. It's Young Adult, and the initial impression one would get is that it's about a young girl dealing with the travails of progressing into young womanhood, with a twist. And it is... but _what_ a twist. Boys, high school, popularity - combined with a dystopian future post-nuclear-war society, class struggles... oh, and the main character having had her mind downloaded, after a terrible car accident, into a synthetic body.

The book covers, by allegory, irrational religious persecution, marginalized populations, social equality, and, more directly, the concept of what it is to be, and what makes a person. I would say that it gets progressively darker throughout, and while I will not spoil the ending, it is unnerving, but potentially inspiring. I enjoyed this book far more than I initially thought I would, and can recommend it to any SF fan, particularly those fond of things like Sawyer's "Mindscan".

I really liked this book. It wasn't completely original but I still enjoyed it. I felt so bad for Lia and all the things she was experiencing.

Although not an original concept, it's still interesting from a teenage rich bitch perspective. Can use some editing to cut out much of the bland yakking.

This book was really good, gets the reader thinking about the way we live and the way people think. Couldn't put this book down. I'm gonna start reading the second one soon, so excited!

I really enjoyed the futuristic view of what could be. The story is really great, it made me think about what makes a person a person- and what makes a machine a machine..especially when they look the same.

It was good, I feel sorry for Lia, her Family acts like she's with them but then she finds out that they regret saving her

It was okay, I felt kind of alienated reading it and got bored half way through and ended up stopping altogether. I'll probably try and read it again later though.

Maybe that's what believing is- pretending to be sure, even when you're not. Ignoring the doubt until it disappears. -Lia

Other times i used to wonder if other people thought the way i did, i mean reallt thought. They said they did, and acted like they did, but how was I supposed to know if it was true? It was like colors. I knew what red looked like to me, but for all I knew, it looked different to everyone else, red looked like blue, and blue looked like red.
