The Blue Notebook is not a gentle or even satisfying read, this book will disgust, horrify and leave you feeling sad and haunted but it is an imporant story and one that many people should read. Child exploitation is a global issue and it takes books like this one to shine a light into the darkness.

The Blue Notebook is a heartbreakingly honest story. Levine doesn't spare the reader any details through Batuk's journal writings. Though poignant, readers should be aware that her story is at times disturbing and graphic. I would not recommend this novel for younger readers. Beautifully told, Batuk's story represents the multitude of young girls like her across the world. Prepare to be moved and have your heart broken for injustice. Well done, Levine.

I thought this book felt very honest. Some parts were very disturbing and heart breaking but the strength the writer gives to this unfortunate young girl is absolutely remarkable. It's a quick read and well worth it.
