I loved the movie. I thought it was going to be a documentry type of film about how the world started. The movie beated my expectations. It was an hilarious movie.

This was just another great dissapointment. I got this film because:
1. Jack Black, an amazing comedian actor, was on the cover.
2. The cover looked like a parody of 10000 BC. Since I liked Johnny English, a movie spoof about james Bond, I thought this was going to be a good spoof.
Well, my expectations were just 0%. I didn't even understand the plot. Jack Black just eats the fruit from the bad tree and becomes a retard, so he gets kicked out from his land while Michael Cera, another actor in the movie, joins him. They meet Cain and Abel (really?! Bibliacal characters?!) Then there's this LESBIAN! After a bunch of farting in the movie, I TURNED THE TV OFF! I do not know why people would complain about movies like Twilight or Batman and Robin, when there's a movie 100% worse out there. Seriously, "lower your expectations"- quote from Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson in the Tooth Fairy movie- for this complete total garbage!

It's a super funny movie. I laughed-out-loud the entire movie. I totally recommend it!

I have to say, this was not a hilarious movie. That is sad to say, given that Michael Cera is my favourite actor. Jack Black is pretty talented, too, but then again, he did make Nacho Libre, a terrible film. This is better than Nacho Libre. It has funnier moments, but that is not enough to make it a great film. It is not a film that you should go out of your way to find, but if it were on TV, it isn't something worth turning off, I guess.

This flick is pitiful garbage with scatological jokes that befit the movie's very flimsy premises. Poor Jack Black... I thought after NACHO LIBRE that he learned his lesson but, no - here he is again trying to be a leading man by taking any old crap that's handed to him (literally... you poor peeps - all 148 of you who are on the waiting list for this tripe and don't take Joseph's advice and skip it - will literally see what I'm talking about... ugh!)
Similarly, writer-director Harold Ramis has fallen so low after his GHOSTBUSTERS contributions, that viewers will want to strangle him for the cinematic ineptness he perpetrates on them in YEAR ONE.
Lastly, a promising comedic career as the awkward young pubescent male in most of his movies - just went south for Michael Cera, with this disaster. That Cera would accept this role and the indignities his character must suffer because of Ramis' disgusting script - just dropped him in my estimation as a young actor readying himself for more substantive work in the future.
If you're thinking about joining the list of 148 after this review - I promise you - you will be highly disappointed by this foolish waste of time of a movie.

Skip It – Year One (2009) 95 min. Terribly unfunny historical romp as “cave men” Jack Black and Michael Cera leave their village and meet up with Cain, Abraham and finally find themselves in Sodom. The story is preposterous to say the least but the worst part of the film were the unfortunate characterizations of Biblical figures. I’m not sure what was more offending – the unflattering portrayal of Abraham or the bad jokes and situations. Stay away from this garbage.
