"For its wicked innocence, this is the finest rock movie since 'Almost Famous.'"--New York Post
"...the new rock-saturated comedy that proves life really is better when it's set to a '60s soundtrack, is, to borrow from the Stones, 'a gas! gas! gas!'"--Los Angeles Times
"Richard Curtis is good at handling large casts, establishing all the characters and keeping them alive."--Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
The high-spirited story of how 8 DJs' love affair with rock n' roll changed the world forever. In the 1960s this group of rogue DJs, on a boat in the middle of the Northern Atlantic, played rock records and broke the law for the love of music. The film is packed with the music that defined a generation and will leave you rocking out all day and all night.

Careful attention by viewer is rewarded because every line of dialogue, whether spoken by the radio station people or the government people, is clever and usually hilarious. Well played by all the actors and actresses. Never heard of it when in came out in 2009.

One of the best music movies I've ever seen! watching the deleted scenes is a must as most (40mins) were for time not content. As for "badgirls" comment, that's like complaining about movies about Hitler portraying him as a sick individual!

Great music! The plot is a little on the goofy side, but it is based on certain facts from the 60's. Anyway, it was a fun one to watch.

This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance.

Oh gawd-did they really think it was funny making rape jokes, unzipping their pants etc. live on radio back then?
"Pirate Radio" needs to walk the plank.

Fun, well meaning and thought out story of a group of DJs whose music tastes arent exactly suited to those of the stuffy British Government. One thing this movie has is a lot of heart and soul and is one of those stories you really get into as you watch. Enjoyable, especially for those who loved the 60's and oldies music. Another film of this nature is FM.

Similar coming of age piece to "Almost Famous" which also featured a great soundtrack and PSH. I'd like to get a hold of the unreleased soundtrack, as there was way more music in the film than contained in the CD soundtrack.

Only 4 stars as the movie story line is more of a guy thing. However, the music is wonderful. Haven't heard many of the songs since the 60's, as Oldie stations do not play a lot of them. The story is mostly true. The main discrepancy is that there were MANY of these pirate radio stations. They made money as they sold commercial time. some were even run by Americans, for the money of course.
