An autobiography written in verse. You can't get more original than that. The title refers both to Thoreau, whom the author greatly admires, and the fact that the author's father, also a poet, use to write in the margins of her book.

This is a type of memoir in verse about an American woman returning to China as she turns 65. This idea was interesting but it failed. Overall, the book seemed naive and/or egotistical.
