Sadly, I can't say I thought this book was more than just a commercial obligation fulfilled by the authors. It's a continuation of the previous book in the series and unless you've read that one, this one would be very difficult to follow. Moreover, the authors start introducing more and more characters from Pendergast's past until there are too many storylines running in several directions, making your head spin. Not one of their best books

Coudn't put it first Preston & Child novel - totally fascinating lead character. Can't wait to read another one written by these co-authors.

Excellent tome, as usual, from my favourite authors of all time. I've read every single one of their collaborative fiction works and each of their individual books as well. Preston is the slightly better auteur, but they are both exceptionally talented in their field.

There has never been a more cleverly written or complex character as Special Agent Aloysius X. L. Pendergast and there never will be. I hope David and Lincoln continue to churn out Pendergast novels for as long as they are able to write, since we know that Agent Pendergast will live on forever...
