Another reason to avoid US authors. This is such dribble. While there is some tension in the hunt, it is ruined by the unrealistic details. What hunting guides wear trackpants in the wilderness and leave their thermals for the hut? Where else can the bad guy (now the good guy once she falls for his egotistic claims for satsifying her sexual needs) survive being shot by a weapon designed to bring down a grizzly bear? Linda Howard would have benefited from the services of a guide herself, a literary guide, otherwise known as an editor. If you're after a mindless and hopeless romance and don't care about real life, then give it a try. Otherwise leave it at the airport.

loved this book but I may never go near the woods again. I read late and scared myself silly.

I always enjoy a Linda Howard book.

This is a pretty enjoyable outdoor adventure thriller. I loved that the protagonists were fighting two predators - man and bear. This is a fast-paced, satisfying read.

First time reading Linda Howard. Would recommend this book and will read other books by this author.

I particularly enjoyed the chapters written from the bear's perspective and would have liked more of this humour. Linda Howard, however, always delivers some great one-liners that add immensely to the enjoyement of the story.

I have yet to read a book by her that is not really good. She keeps the pages turning into the night.

This book was really good. The deadliest and most feared predator in the book was the bear and it was neat to have a little insight into what's going on in an animals head...and kinda gross too...lol. The dynamics between Angie and Dare really kept me flipping the pages. The final confrontation between all the involved parties is riveting. I caught myself holding my breath a couple times while that played out. It was a fun and quick read and I'd forsure recommend it.

This book was a prime example of a real page turner. Filled with anticipation and fear of the unknown kept me wanting to read on and on. Howard's description of Angie's struggle to stay alive was intense and haunting. If you're looking for a thrilling story to read on a cold winter's day, this book will not disappoint you.

I've been hit and miss on Linda Howard's recent contemporary thrillers, but I really enjoyed this book. The depictions of the bear and its predations were excellent, if a little sickening. I definitely felt nervous and on edge for the protagonist. The evolution of the two main love interest's relationship was great and I loved how they resolved their miscommunications. Like most novels where the military aspect is background information instead of part of the story, I felt the cliche "after serving so long, he will always be battle ready" sentiment was a little too pat but that's to be expected. Overall, great one!
