Daisy had an active, outdoorsy, fun childhood, but she knew that most girls weren’t as lucky as she was. When she grew up, she founded an organization to bring girls out-of-doors and to encourage them to prepare to be professional woman, and which was open to all races and ethnicities, and to those with disabilities. A hundred years later, that organization—the Girl Scouts of America—is still doing all those things. Illus. with photos.
