Brendan is moving into middle school in the fall and when he is rock hunting with his grandfather during the summer he is introduced to a girl who is new to the area, has always been home-schooled and now will be going to school with Brendan. Both the new girl, Morgan, and Brendan are science nerds and though Brendan doesn’t want to be her best friend, they are paired in a national science fair competition. Brendan discovers that girls are interesting and that he must stand up to his father who does not see science as important and would prefer to see Brendan involved in sports. This is a great book and anyone who is interested in science and friendships will love it. I did! Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
