Jance again delivers an entertaining and fast-paced book. I didn't think the twist in the plot that gave the book its name was required and the book would have been fine without it

Excellent reading, had me on the lack of sleep because I stayed up reading syndrome. A few surprises and twists that were not even on my radar. A very good read.

Well written series and this book is one of the best. I've enjoyed the character development throughout the series. This book especially is extremely well written, solves the main mystery but also deals with two deaths from the past and ties them all together.

When Sheriff Joanna Brady's daughter Jenny, out on an early morning ride, comes upon the body of her high school principal, Joanna's work and personal worlds collide. She has to leave Jenny with the body while she goes back to direct her staff around the principal's car, stuck in the sand. A picture Jenny takes and sends to just one friend quickly goes viral, interfering with the investigation. This doesn't help the rocky relationship between mother and daughter. Yet in the end, that picture helps crack the case, as it breaks open the relationship--or lack thereof--between the principal, her students, and her secretary. Digging into her past, they find she's not who she claimed to be, yet the picture draws in a woman who'd been friends with her for decades. In the end, both mother and daughter learn important lessons about making judgement calls. A very sweet book on that level.

As always, Ms. Jance kept me in that "didn't want to put the book down" mode. I have always enjoyed her writing, and this story was no exception.

A lot of things going on in this book, sometimes hard to keep up with who might of did what. Jance likes to tie up all the loose ends, making the book a bit long, but overall I liked the book and will recommend it to others.

Joanna Brady, sheriff of Cochise County, Arizona, has to solve the murder of the local high school principal. I didn't find the plot very interesting.
