This sentimental story is lite reading that addresses universal themes such as parents resisting their children leaving home; development vs. heritage preservation; the clash of cultures and religions; and criminality vs. community self-reliance. If you like this story you will also like "The Number One Ladies Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith.

This is an interesting story of a women trying to integrate herself into a small village in India. Colourful characters, including her partner, a parrot.

Fun story of a middle-aged Indian woman of Scottish ancestry who re-invents herself in 1950s India, and, not incidentally, help save her town from submersion. Great characters. I look forward to seeing future works.
