Made me wonder if Jefferson was a sociopath -- many "great" men and most "successful" business men are. His pocketbook was more important than his ideals.
Some errors in the book but minor mistakes. For a history book, pretty damned exciting.
I read a lot of history, this is the best I have read in a long time. It really portrays the evil of slavery and Thomas Jefferson's increasing dependency on it. Jefferson owned as property men women and children he sold them and refused many of his contemporaries pleas to free them including an offer of paying to do so. Among the people he owned were members of his own family! A must read if you want to know just who our founding fathers really were.
