This title called out to me. Hilarious, self-deprecating essays on a fabulous array of books that aren't the hottest things out there—from The Art Of Living by Epicetus (from 5 CE and strikingly similar to modern cognitive therapy) to Just Kids by Patti Smith. You will come away from this happy reading with, at the very least, one other title you will want to search for in our library!

Funny reading about the author's reading. Found some interesting leads on new books to find.

The book is the years 2010 and 2011 of Hornby?s columns in Believer magazine.

I always enjoy these. This one incorporated his being caught up in the Oscar whirl as his screenplay for An Education was nominated. He is also researching background and beginning to think of a screenplay for Colm Tóibín?s Brooklyn, a book I loved. He does spend a fair amount of time reading and reading about Dickens, which took a bit away from his customary look at more contemporary fiction.
