This book shares similarities with "Dead Poets Society": students taking a stand and speaking up against prejudice and hate and banding together to show support for a teacher with different methods. I thought of Robin Williams' stellar performance and how he's moved people around the country with his art, and now Valerie Hobbs is doing something similar with her voice as Minnie McClary. I really enjoyed this book as it touches on the universal theme of finding our "why's" and asking the difficult questions of growing up. Nicely done.
