This series TOWERS over most of what DC and Marvel publish (as well as many indies). And all these takes and twists on characters we are all familiar with usually works out very well, not only giving them lives of their own, but putting those lives into a complex "situation" in our modern, mundy world that won't let its Fables die. As an added bonus it is nice not to have every other page remind us that superheroes must not kill. Hint: just don't do it if you must not, but stop telling us you aren't doing it over and over and over.

Solid storytelling in this volume. Lots of cool events happen, more characters die, others get their roles expanded, more characters' stories are introduced, and things get kinda intense. I liked that Snow and Bigby FINALLY started making some progress in some sort of relationship (albeit, it seemed kinda rushed). x) It was hard for me to put this one down. Way better than the last book; I look forward to the next one. Things are starting to get complex and interesting in Fabletown....
