"Spike hightails it for the dark side of the moon after parting ways with his on-again, off-again love interest, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Once a terrifying vampire, Spike has grown soft. It's nothing that a vacation on a bug-filled spaceship headed for the moon can't fix. That and some heavy drinking. But his plans for self-loathing are interrupted when he's confronted by dangerous demons looking for a first-class ticket to...Sunnydale! Villains from Spike's shady past appear, and a sultry succubus tempts Spike to move on from his aching heart. Victor Gischler and Paul Lee bring Spike to vivid life, presenting this vampire who chose to have a soul with the hard truth about himself and his enduring pursuit of the Slayer." --p.[4] of cover.

I like the giant airship. I just don't care for the cockroach demons. It feels like it came from the Angel IDW series. Which I read through ILL and was really bad.

Collects a miniseries, set squarely in the Buffy Season Nine time frame. Spike, who's busy in charge of a space ship manned by large bugs (long story, but it does make sense) is on and off the planet trying to avoid his unfinished business with Buffy. Gischler gets the voice of Spike down just right, conveys a good sense of humour in his storytelling, and he's backed up by art that suits the character and the genre. And having Spike encounter new threats, characters, and situations is a good touch.
