What a find! I came upon it on one of the front tables at the Mid-Manhattan branch and was in heaven from start to finish. Amend's absolutely terrific novel, set among the art and auction worlds of New York and Paris, is a witty and captivating exploration of inheritance and identity, values and valuation, avarice and irreparable loss. To say that its two main characters make some very bad choices en route to a qualified contentment would be an understatement! Fingers crossed that this amusing, wrenching page-turner finds the giant audience it warrants.
