His opening observation is how couple have a tendency to drift apart after they are married for about 2 years. The rest of the book is based on how each person perceives love differently and if not recognized the relationship will suffer. This being the foundational book, other books have followed speaking to specific scenarios, like for teens, singles or military. It is simple yet profound, well worth understanding.

Life altering! This is one of those books that I think everyone should read. It's a quick, easy read but it is full of information that can be used in almost every relationship (parent, child, spouse, friend).

It is nice to get a perspective in how to communicate with our significant others and discover primary ways we communicate feelings of love and admiration.

The reader of this audio book is Gary Chapman, the author. He is a good reader and easy to listen to. I feel the advice he gives in this book makes sense. Couples struggling with marriage will learn how love can be more effectively expressed to their spouses by using their primary love language. When you are not using the right love language, your spouse will feel unloved and will likely withdraw, become critical, nagging, or even cruel. Even happily married couples can benefit from the information in this book since it never hurts to know your spouse better.

My brother found this book and then sugested it. So now all of my family have read it and love it. It has helped me see why I do some things and how/what my family feel and think. Also it was interesting to just see how different people are. I've now read it a second time and loved it again. I learned a lot more after a few years and with a second reading.

I loved reading this book. I wanted to read the Single’s Edition since it has some different things from the original book. It talks about the stages of romantic love, and also how the love languages relate to co-workers, parents, room-mates, and of course: Dating. All the examples and stories in the book are from real singles Gary Chapman has talked to. They were very helpful for understanding situations and people, and how to apply the different love languages. I feel like I have learned a lot. There are questions at the end of each chapter to get you thinking and to help you improve. The book was easy to read and enjoyable. I looked forward to what each chapter had to say. This book, like the original one, has a test to help you find your own love language.

I highly recommend The Five Love Languages for married (or living as married) couples (religious or non-religious). In my opinion, Chapman doesn't reference the Bible or God enough to make his suggestions unappealing or alienating for nonreligious couples.

Incredible book! A "must read" for everyone! I feel these tools are invaluable to anyone dealing with other people (relationship, family or children).
