As the gods' deaths are progressing, they are becoming more gruesome. Following the death of Aiden/Apollo, the group is starting to train and prepare for the ultimate war with Hera, Aphrodite, and Ares. Calypso tells Athena where Achilles is, as Odysseus won't budge in his refusal. Instead of killing him, Achilles joins the group and Athena is convinced of their ability to win as they now have both weapons of fate - Cassandra and Achilles. Ares lets slip that Olympus is back, which leads them to think the underworld must be. In an attempt to find Apollo, they meet Persephone who tells them that Hades does not come home because the grotesque way in which she is dying. The descriptions of her path to death were my favorite in how disgusting it appeared to be. They discover that she knows nothing, and they head to Olympus without Apollo, with ideas of success, and the belief that Olympus will heal Athena and Hermes. Unexpected events take place and the group is separated heading into the third book.
