An emotionally charged film about the Danish family who risked their lives to help save their Jewish countrymen from the unspeakable fate about to befall them at the hands of the Nazis during World War II. When word leaked out of the Germans' plan to arrest the Jews at midnight on the eve of rosh Hashanah, the Danes immediately opened their hearts, homes and pocketbooks to help their countrymen. All over Denmark families such as the Kosters -- Karl, Doris and their 18-year-old son Hendrik -- took in refugees and donated money generously. The local hospital in Copenhagen, headed by Dr. Loster, admitted countless "patients" in an attempt to keep more Jews out of Hitler's grasp. Determined to thwart the impending raid, the country banded together with only 48 hours' notice in a remarkable effort to save their homeland's 7500 jews.
