From the director of TABU. In the heart of Portugal, amid the mountains, the month of August is abuzz with people and activity. Emigrants return home, set off fireworks, fight fires, sing karaoke, hurl themselves from bridges, hunt wild boar, drink beer, and make babies. "Our Beloved Month of August" is an intoxicating blend of visuals, sound and music that follows the strange relationship between a father, a daughter and a nephew in a traveling pop band.

every time I was tempted to FF parts of this meandering film a scene would pique my interest.

a movie about making a movie which appears to be stalled so other local people and events are being filmed, which is actually this movie. yes, it is that clear......

in the end there is more focus on one family group of musicians which I found more coherent than the first part of the film.

I fidgeted a bit but watched all 2 hours and 27 minutes.

Gomes's 2012 Tabu is equally unusual.
