Outcast is the best graphic novel that I have read. Its second volume consumed me. I read it in one sitting. Robert Kirkman uses few words. Paul Azaceta draws flat, frightening, fabulous depictions. Elizabeth Breitweiser knows when to color and when to reduce shadows (and there are lots of shadows). Rus Wooton's lettering using thin script capitalization to keep the nature that Kerkman portrays.
The novel concerns demonic possession, Christian exorcism, and evil incarnate. Beloved characters from the first volume do not stay beloved. Kyle’s failed marriage begins to make sense. Oh, his little girl, what she has had to face. And the Reverend, so patient and courageous before evil.
The book is not meant for children. It is frightening.
