"Thor's hammer is missing again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon--the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn't just lost, it has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can't retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer's return is the gods' worst enemy, Loki--and the price he wants is very high. Magnus Chase, a homeless boy living in Boston, finds out he is the son of a Norse god."-- from amazon.com.

It was just as good a The first book and had more of my favorite characters (Hearthstone and Loki) I finished it in a day and now I've got my younger brother reading it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Norse mythology.

It was interesting to see character development take more of the forefront in this novel. The development of Alex, Samirah, and Hearth, in particular, took the spotlight in quite a few scenes. This is a change of pace from Riordan's earlier works, though not an unwelcome one. I'm also curious where Riordan is going with Uncle Randolph.

Alex Fierro is an amazing character! Representation.

I need the next book...like now. I adore Alex Fierro; she is one of my favorite characters Riordan has ever written and her addition to this group is perfect and fantastic. While this adventures was whirl-windy and kind of lame, I still enjoyed the characters and their journeys. I enjoyed Amir and Sam's development. Also that cliffhanger is juicy and enticing! I am a shameless fan of Riordan's books and this book did not disappoint.

"Chasing assassin," I blurted out, dodging a taxi. "Killed goat."
"Right," Jack said. "Same old, same old, then."
