The Bourne series was a very good read until Van Lustbader decided to make it a shoot 'em up story with no character development. In fact he killed off two of the major supporting players right away. I made it to page 109 and gave up in disgust at a very poor imitation of Ludlum's tight writing.

Van Lustbader's first Bourne book left me a little puzzled. Before reading this book i watched the 3 Bourne movies. They were action packed from start to finished. The legacy did have a lot of action but just not the Bourne movie packed action. Did the story get in the way? I'm not sure. Of all the Bourne books this one gives the reader (and Bourne) more background to his life than perhaps any other book. Well worth reading and shouldn't be skipped when reading the series.
