A thought-provoking picture book for older kids that explores the differences between a quiet life of simple pleasures and an exciting existence, "fun all the time," that leaves no time for contemplation. A perfect read-aloud for kids who have trouble looking up from their devices.

A picture book for older readers that often gets overlooked in our chapter book shelves. This one is perfect for starting conversations about minimalism, environmentalism, and the pros and cons of commercial development. These are deep concepts, but this picture book handles them with a gentle story and a relatable main character. While it lacks the color and rhyme of The Lorax, the message is similar.
